The infamous mystery ship, the Arctic Sea, has returned to port in Malta.

The BBC reports that the ship was towed into harbour in the Maltese capital, Valletta, after maritime officials inspected the vessel and declared it radiation-free.

The ship’s whereabouts captured international attention as it appeared to vanish on its way from Finland to Algeria – it was eventually found off the Cape Verde islands.

Rumors abounded that included hijacking and weapons smuggling. There was serious speculation that theĀ  ship was carrying missiles for Iran or Syria – a fact denied by the officers of the Russian ship that eventually located the Arctic sea.

The plot thickened, however, with reports that Israel’s Mossad was keeping close watch on the ship’s movements.

According to the BBC, both Russian and Maltese authorities said the ship was recovered with its officially-listed cargo of timber still on board.
