American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert will not be appearing on Good Morning America on Wednesday morning.
ABC cancelled the performance after Lambert’s controversial, sexually-charged performance of his new single, the title track from ‘For Your Entertainment’ at the 2009 American Music Awards Sunday on ABC.
During the S&M-themed performance, the American Idol runner-up flipped off the audience, led men on leashes, kissed a male keyboard player and fondled several backup dancers, one of whom had his head pulled into Lambert’s crotch.
ABC received about 1,500 calls from viewers complaining about Lambert’s lewd performance, a number that the networks called “moderate.”
An ABC News spokesperson said, “given his controversial live performance on the AMAs we were concerned about airing a similar concert so early in the morning.”
Probably a wise decision.
