Rand Paul Has Kentucky Senate Lead
Tea Party favorite Rand Paul has a slight lead over his Democratic opponent Jack Conway in the Kentucky Senate race.
In the latest Reuters/Ipos poll released on Tuesday, Republican Representative Rand leads Conway by 45 to 40 percent among likely voters in the November 2 general election. Reuters reports that in a broader poll of registered voters, the race is deadlocked at 40 percent for each candidate.
To reclaim a Senate majority, Republicans must pick up 10 seats. Kentucky is one of those states that is a must win for Republicans.
As the son of Libertarian Republican Representative Ron Paul, Rand is backed by the conservative Tea party along with three other Senate hopefuls: Sharron Angle in Nevada, Ken Buck in Colorado and Marco Rubio in Florida.
