Pataki Endorses Hoffman

With an earth-shattering surprise announcement, former New York Gov. George Pataki has announced his endorsement of Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman over Republican Dede Scozzafava.
The Wall Street Journal indicated that because Pataki fashioned a successful career as a Republican moderate, his endorsement is something of a bombshell.
“Simply put,” Pataki said in a statement, “we cannot afford to give another vote to Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, we cannot afford another vote for higher taxes, we cannot afford another vote for government-run health care, and we absolutely cannot afford another vote to take away from hard-working men and women the right to secret ballot.”
Pataki joins a list of several important Republicans already on the Hoffman bandwagon, including Sarah Palin, former Sen. Fred Thompson and Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty.
The WSJ points out that Pawlenty is considered a likely 2012 presidential contender and a Hoffman endorsement could play well with Republican primary voters.
