obama approval ratings down

With controversy continuing to brew over President Obama‘s healthcare proposals, the latest polls indicate a steady decline in approval ratings.

According to the latest Gallup poll, Obama’s overall rating is 55%, down from more than 60%, while 49% of Americans disapprove of the President’s handling of healthcare policy, and 43% approve.

Rasmussen Reports, which uses a dynamic weighting system for it’s Presidential Tracking Poll, calculates the Presidential Approval Index by subtracting the number who “strongly disapprove” from the number who “strongly approve.”

Updated daily, the Rasmussen poll for Thursday shows 29% of America’s voters strongly approve of the way Barack Obama is performing his role as President, while 37% strongly disapprove, giving him a Presidential Approval Index rating of -8.

Rasmussen also reports that 47% “somewhat approve” of Obama’s performance, making it the lowest level of total approval recorded to date.
