Somer Thompson: Child’s Body Discovered in Georgia Landfill
According to reports by the Charlton County Herald, a child’s body has been found at a Charlton landfill. It is suspected that the body is that of missing Florida 7 year old Somer Thompson. Earlier today, sheriffs from the Clay County Sheriff’s department traveled to Charlton County, Georgia to search a landfill. It has now been confirmed that a child’s body was found.
The landfill is a dumping place for trash and garbage that is hauled from Somer Thompson’s neighborhood. Reports state that crime lab vans were seen in the area of the landfill. A press conference was held today stating that the investigation has now become a homicide investigation.
The Georgia Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy on the child’s body. During the press conference, it was stated that searching the landfill was normal police procedure.
