‘Soccer Mom’ Meleanie Hain Shot by Husband During Video Chat

Meleanie Hain the “soccer mom” who gained national attention for taking a loaded pistol to her 5-year-old daughter’s game was killed in a shooting witnessed online by her video-chat partner.

Meleanie was found dead in her Lebanon, Pennsylvania home along with her husband Scott Hain, 33, on Wednesday evening in an apparent murder-suicide. Meleanie was in her kitchen talking with a friend via webcam when she was killed, according to police.

The friend, who police have not named, told officers that he was looking away from the computer when he heard a shot and a scream. When he turned back to the computer Melanie was not visible but he saw Scott Hain fire several rounds from a handgun toward where his wife had been.

Scott Hain then went to an upstairs bedroom and shot himself in the head with a 12 gauge shotgun, police reported.
