Parents of 8 Year Old Rape Victim Arrested For Child Abuse

The parents of the 8-year-old Liberian girl who was allegedly gang-raped in Phoenix, AZ, by four young boys at her apartment complex earlier this year, have now been arrested for child abuse, reported Fox Phoenix.
Hemis Dio and his wife, Wedeh Dio, both Liberian immigrants, are facing child abuse charges related to an investigation conducted by police and the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.
Police say child neglect reports were filed against Dio and his wife on two separate occasions. The Dios each face eight counts for a series of abuse and neglect incidents over the past four years. They possibly face years in prison for these charges and they could be deported back to Liberia.
These are the same parents who, after learning of their daughter’s rape, disowned her on grounds she had “shamed” her family.
The little girl was removed from the home after the rape and is still in the custody of Child Protective Services.
